Coming Up: CanSat Competition 2017
The second University of Bristol CanSat Competition is scheduled to start on the last weekend of October.
Following the success of the University’s first CanSat contest in 2016,
there was a lot of anticipation for the sequel. And now the wait is almost over! Once again organised with help from
Aerospace Engineering Department
of the University of Bristol, the competition will give the selected teams three weeks to develop and produce their
CanSats with the launch set to take place on the 18th of November.
The challenge is to design and build a working satellite in the volume of a soda can. The CanSats will be lifted by a drone and dropped with a parachute, data must be downloaded during the drop.
Each satellite will include a primary payload, which will be provided, and a secondary payload of each team’s choice. The provided kits include Arduino based pressure and temperature sensors as well as a radio module for data downlink to a ground station.
To take part in the competition, the participants are to form into teams and submit their entry using this Google Form.
